BOLLYWOOD
Bollywood is a porte-manteau word formed by the combination of Bombay – currently referred to as Mumbai – and the symbol of America’s film industry, Hollywood.
We were inspired by Bollywood’s epic tales to present a performance at the crossroads of India and Asia.
THE ELEPHANTINE PARADE
“Bollywood in the limelight” The city is taken by storm by an elephant of light, decked out in a thousand colours. This giant of light, manually operated and towed by puppeteers, will be surrounded by his court, like a king straight out of the Arabian Nights. A colourful performance led by Indian film stars (actors, dancers, acrobats, fire performers, magicians, stilt-walkers…). A vivid and spirited Bollywoodian parade. A Bollywood fairyland. A procession of fragrances, colours and lights. The artists will parade to the rhythm of gongs, bells and the sound system (soundtrack) nested within the elephant, powered by a battery system. As for the stilt-walkers, bearers of incense and fire, they will throw confetti and clouds of colours (Holi powder: a myriad of gleaming coloured fragments) into the air.
